The festival of Skanda Shashthi is considered very important. On this day, there is a ritual of worshiping Lord Skanda, who is the son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. He is also known as Murugan, Karthikeyan and Subramaniam. It is said that by worshiping Lord Murugan, all desires are fulfilled. Also, the sorrows in life come to an end. According to the Hindu calendar, the first Skanda Shashthi of the year 2025 (Skanda Sashti 2025) will be celebrated on January 05, so let's know its correct worship method.
Skanda Shashthi date and time (Skanda Sashti Shubh Muhurat)
According to the Hindu calendar, the Shashthi Tithi of the Shukla Paksha of the month of Paush will begin on January 04 at 10 pm, while it will end the next day i.e. on January 05 at 08:15 pm. In such a situation, looking at the Panchang, Skanda Shashthi will be celebrated on January 05, 2025. This will be the first Skanda Shashthi falling in the new year, when devotees will worship Lord Kartikeya.
Skanda Sashti Puja Vidhi 2025
First of all wake up in the morning and take a holy bath. Clean your house and temple. Prepare prasad at home for the Lord. Install a picture of Lord Kartikeya on a pedestal . Bathe him with Gangajal. Apply sandalwood tilak and offer a garland of yellow flowers. Light a lamp of desi ghee. Offer seasonal fruits and home-made prasad. Chant the mantras of Lord Skanda.
Also complete the puja with Aarti. Stay away from evil activities on this day. Give donations to the poor. Also break the fast the next day with Prasad.
