To know more about this, we spoke to Dr. Avinandan Banerjee, Senior Consultant Neurologist and Transplant Physician at CMRI Hospital. He told that the disease of high BP and diabetes is increasing rapidly in India, due to which it has a bad effect on the kidneys. Since kidney diseases do not show any symptoms in the initial stages, it becomes very difficult to diagnose them in the beginning.

 

Periodic check-ups are necessary

Therefore, people suffering from high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity, heart disease or stroke should get their kidneys checked regularly. Also, people who have a history of kidney diseases in their family should also get their kidneys checked regularly. Doctors usually recommend two tests initially, which include urine test and urea creatinine.

 

Common kidney diseases

Kidney disease means that your kidneys are damaged and can't filter blood as well as they should. Some common kidney problems include acute kidney injury, kidney cysts, kidney stones, and kidney infections. If you develop kidney failure, treatment may include a kidney transplant or dialysis.
