Amritpal Singh Father New Party: Tarsem Singh, head of 'Waris Punjab De' organization and father of independent MP Amritpal Singh, will announce a new regional political party on January 14. The new party will be announced at the 'Panth Bachao - Punjab Bachao' rally in Muktsar Sahib on the occasion of Maghi Mela. Along with the name of the party, a five-member committee will also be formed which will take further decisions regarding the party.

At a time when the Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal), a party that does sectarian politics, is going through a crisis, BJP is trying to increase its base in Punjab. Meanwhile, Amritpal Singh's new party can change the political equations of Punjab.

Desire to get Hindus on its side, but BJP lagging behind target BJP
is trying to increase its support base in Punjab and is making efforts to get the Hindus of the state on its side. However, BJP's membership drive is not getting membership as per expectations and the party is far behind its set target. Although BJP got 18.5% votes in the Lok Sabha elections , it could not win any seat. After this, the party's performance was not very good in the Assembly by-elections and the Municipal Corporation elections.

Will Amritpal's party benefit BJP, will it harm Congress?
On the other hand, it is well known that Amritpal Singh and his associates support the demand for Khalistan. Amritpal Singh is lodged in Dibrugarh jail in Assam under the National Security Act (NSA). In such a situation, Hindu sections may feel uncomfortable with the newly formed party and they may lean towards BJP.

In Punjab, the Hindu vote bank usually stands with the Congress, but if Hindus feel uncomfortable with the formation of a new party and go with the BJP, then the Congress may have to face losses.

Amritpal Singh, the new leader of the sect?
The way Amritpal Singh won the Lok Sabha elections while being in jail, his supporters feel that the Panthic vote bank of Punjab can come towards his newly formed party because they see Amritpal as the new leader of the sect. This can cause direct loss to Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal).

However, in the past too, many sectarian parties were formed in Punjab politics with the aim of replacing Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) but they could not succeed in politics. The reason for this was that the leaders of Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) are known as moderate Sikh leaders, due to which the pro-Khalistan Sikhs leave the vote bank and they get the support of those who are moderate Sikhs.

Punjab's political equations can change on a large scale.
It is believed that in the 2022 assembly elections, a large vote bank of Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) had gone towards the Aam Aadmi Party. This will also change the equations for the Aam Aadmi Party. In such a situation, it remains to be seen how successful the new political party formed by Amritpal Singh's father is. If the new party formed by Amritpal Singh's father is successful, then the political equations in Punjab can change on a large scale.
