Kerala nurse Nimisha Priya has been sentenced to death in Yemen. In this case, Nimisha filed a petition in the Supreme Court of Yemen, which has been rejected by the Supreme Court of Yemen. Actually, Nimisha is accused of killing a Yemeni citizen. The central government said that after the petition was rejected by the Supreme Court of Yemen, the President of Yemen has to take a decision on this. In such a situation, to save her daughter, Nimisha's mother has filed a petition in the Delhi High Court. These things have come to light during the hearing in this case. Also, Nimisha's mother has sought permission for her trip to Yemen so that she can compensate the victim's family through 'blood money' and save her daughter's life.
Who is Nimisha Priya?
Nimisha, a resident of Kerala, is a nurse who opened her own clinic in Yemen. According to the information, she became friends with a man in Yemen, whose name was Abdo Mahdi. Mahdi had promised to help her open the clinic. It is also claimed that Mahdi did not keep his promise, despite this Nimisha opened her clinic in Yemen. According to the information, after this Mahdi started harassing Nimisha and started calling her his second wife. He repeatedly asked for money from Nimisha. Nimisha also complained to the police about this, after which Mahdi had to stay in jail for a few days. However, when Mahdi returned from jail, he took possession of Nimisha's passport.
What is the whole matter?
According to the information, to get the passport back from Mahdi, Nimisha injected him with anesthesia. But the dose of the anesthesia injection turned into an overdose, and Mahdi died. After this, Nimisha, along with her colleague Hanan, cut Mahdi's body into pieces and threw his body in a water tank. Let us tell you that Hanan is a Yemeni citizen. In this case, Nimisha was sentenced to death in the year 2018, while Hanan was sentenced to life imprisonment. Nimisha also has an 8-year-old son. Nimisha has been working in Sana'a, Yemen since 2018.
On Thursday, the Central Government's lawyer told the Delhi High Court that as per the recent notification, Indians can be exempted from the ban on travel to Yemen. But the reason for this should be very specific and there should also be a time restriction. Earlier, Nimisha's mother told the court that the only way to save her daughter is to talk to the relatives of the deceased. For this, she will have to go to Yemen and due to the ban on Indians traveling to Yemen, she is not able to do so.
What is blood money?
A system has been in existence for years in Yemen and Arab countries which is called 'blood money'. Actually this word means the money which is given to the family of the deceased, so that the life of the culprit can be saved. In a way, it is a huge amount of compensation which is given to the family of the deceased as damages. According to this, if the family of the deceased wants, they can compromise with the murderer and forgive him by taking some money. There were also reports that Mahdi's family had demanded 5 crore Yemeni Riyals from Nimisha's family as blood money. That is, this amount is Rs 1.52 crore in Indian currency.
