New Delhi: Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP Rule) has been implemented to stop the increasing pollution in Delhi-NCR. Under this, strict rules will be implemented according to the increasing level of pollution, which will also affect the real estate sector. It will be mandatory for developers to stop construction work and follow strict guidelines.

The purpose of GRAP is to control air pollution, which includes various restrictions apart from stopping construction work. These rules have been prepared jointly by the Environment Pollution (Prevention and Control) Authority and the Central Pollution Control Board.

What is GRAP-1 (What is GRAP rule)

Usually, GRAP-1 is implemented when the city's Air Quality Index (AQI) goes above 200. Under this, the use of coal and wood in hotels and restaurants is completely banned. Along with this, strict monitoring is done on old petrol (BS-III) and diesel (BS-IV) vehicles. Measures to prevent dust in construction and demolition works and instructions for proper management of C&D waste are strictly followed. Apart from this, C&D activities will not be allowed in those projects on plots of 500 square meters or more, which are not registered on the relevant web portal.

What do the developers say?

Pradeep Kumar Agarwal, Chairman, Signature Global, says that complying with GRAP rules is an opportunity for us to innovate. This allows us to adopt better manufacturing processes and fulfill our responsibility towards the environment. These guidelines inspire us to invest in green solutions like better material storage and effective emission management. By adopting these changes, we can have a positive impact on the environment and contribute to making Delhi-NCR clean and healthy.

Manoj Gaur, Chairman, CREDAI and CMD, Gaur Group

County Group Director Amit Modi said that it is our priority to follow the rules of GRAP Stage-1, which is necessary to protect the environment.

Shantanu Gambhir, MD of Rai Infraventures, says that we believe in the importance of implementing GRAP Stage-I and tackling pollution in Delhi. Now that these rules have come into force, it is important for developers to adopt measures to reduce pollution from construction and other sources. By following GRAP Stage-I, we can together improve air quality and promote sustainable development, which will benefit the people of this region.
