From the point of view of domestic tourism, Uttar Pradesh receives the highest number of tourists in the entire country. Whereas 7-8 years ago, Tamil Nadu used to receive the highest number of domestic tourists. At present, the number of domestic tourists visiting Ayodhya and Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh is the highest. Due to the continuous increase in tourists, the number of tourists reaching Varanasi this year is double compared to last year. A large number of devotees are reaching the cultural programs of the district and different religious tourist places from the country and abroad.

When ABP News asked tourism officer Rajendra Rawat about the facilities and arrangements for the tourists reaching Varanasi, he replied that in the last 7 years, Uttar Pradesh has received the highest number of tourists from the point of view of domestic tourism. The tourism department has been fully prepared for the welcome, security and facilities of all the tourists. At the same time, the highest number of tourists in Uttar Pradesh have reached to visit different places of Varanasi and Ayodhya.

This year the number of tourists was 17 crores
Last year in 2023, the total number of tourists visiting different places of Varanasi was 8.54 crores. This year now the number of tourists has doubled this figure, which is about 17 crores. This figure is of the total tourists who reached Kashi Vishwanath Temple, Sarnath, Ganga Aarti, Namo Ghat, Assi Ghat, other ancient and religious places. Apart from this, the number of tourists from the country and abroad participating in the cultural events of Varanasi is also included in it.

The number of tourists from UK and US is high
Talking about domestic tourism, most tourists come to Varanasi from Tamil Nadu, Goa, Gujarat of South India. At the same time, foreign tourists also reach in large numbers to see and experience the ancient city. The highest number of these is also from UK, US and different European countries. Along with the Sanatan cultural heritage, the ancient heritage of Buddhism is also here, to see which people from those countries also come in good numbers where Buddhism is prevalent.
