
The body of a tourist from Delhi, who had come to visit Yamkeshwar in Uttarakhand's Pauri Garhwal district, was found in a damaged car lying in a deep ditch five days later. Inspector in-charge of Pauri's Laxmanjhula police station Santosh Panthwal told that the body of 26-year-old Vinayak Bali, who was missing since March 14, was found in a very decomposed condition on Wednesday. He said that on March 15, Tikshika Naval, a resident of Keshavpuram in Delhi, had filed a missing person's report of Vinayak in Laxmanjhula police station.

In his complaint, Naval had said that Vinayak, who lives in Paschim Vihar in Delhi, had come to Yamkeshwar with his friends on 13 March and was staying at a resort in Ghattu Gad. The complaint said that Vinayak went somewhere without informing anyone at 4 am on 14 March, after which he is missing. His friends said that his phone is also switched off. Panthwal said that after registering the report, the police searched for Vinayak in the nearby areas including Neelkanth area, but his car and he were nowhere to be found.

He said that on March 19, the police took the help of a drone in which a car was seen in a ditch near Paya village between Ghattu Gad and Rishikesh motor road. The police officer said that after this the police and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) team descended into the ditch and reached the car where they saw the body of a young man in the damaged car. He said that the family members identified the young man as Vinayak. He said that the body was in a very rotten condition.
