Agra. In the scorching weather, drizzle brought relief, but the storm caused trouble. Due to trees falling on power lines, power supply from 12 sub-stations in the rural area was cut off. From the city to the rural areas, teams of Torrent and Dakshinchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (DVVNL) were busy in repairing faults and broken lines.

In urban areas, power supply could be restored after three to four hours, while in rural areas, power supply could be restored in many areas till late night. For this, consumers made calls to the control room and officials. Storm and light drizzle started around four in the evening. Trees, tin sheds, hoardings etc. were uprooted from the city to the rural areas.

Electricity supply was disrupted due to trees falling on Torrent's HT lines on Taj Road Feeder, Khandari, Kamala Nagar, Nehru Nagar, Jaganpur Dayalbagh, Shamsabad Road. Tree trunks fell on MG Road, Kamala Nagar. Teams were deployed in urban areas where trees fell on power lines. Electricity supply was restored at all places except Nehru Nagar, Jaganpur Dayalbagh at 7:30 pm.

In the rural areas, the power supply of 12 sub-stations like Kiravali, Achhnera, Midhakur, Sikandra, Barauli Ahir, Jaipuria, Dhanota, Pawawali, Kabis, Kakurpur, Saiya, Kheragarh etc. got affected. Teams kept running to repair the lines in rural areas. Junior engineers themselves were busy. In many areas, power supply could be restored only after late night.

There was no electricity in the district hospital, patients were troubled

Due to the storm, the district hospital lost power at 4 pm. Patients admitted in the emergency and wards started facing problems due to the power outage. The employee who runs the generator also went home from the hospital. The power was out for about 30 minutes. Chief Superintendent Dr. RK Arora said that the employee was called from home. The employee reached the hospital at 4.30 pm and started the generator.

Trees fell on power lines and the poles were damaged and the lines were broken. After repairing them, power was restored by patrolling the lines. Work is going on at some places. - Rajkumar, Superintending Engineer, DVVNL
