Aligarh. On Thursday the police busted an inter-state gang of 'looteri dulhan' who duped people in fake marriages and arrested seven people including three women. The arrested accused include Pradeep Sharma, resident of Jargawan in Ramghat police station area of Bulandshahr, his wife Anjali alias Kamlesh, Danish, resident of Zakir Nagar lane number 14, his wife Anam alias Mahvish alias Neha alias Simran, Sanju, resident of Teliya Ghat 25 Futa Gali in Kotwali Nagar police station area of Khurja, Rajkumar alias Raju, resident of Sauda Habibpur in Kotwali Nagar area and his wife Puja.

Two accused have already been sent to jail. On May 14, the gang had arranged the marriage of Manav Bansal, a resident of Champa Vihar Saket Colony of Quarsi area, with a girl named Neha at the Dussehra Chamunda temple in Khurja, Bulandshahr. On May 16, some people from the gang came posing as Neha's brother and sister-in-law, who bid her farewell and took her away. Neha had also taken all her jewellery and some money with her.
Later, the phones of all the accused were switched off. Similarly, these people had arranged the marriage of Dinesh of the same locality with a girl named Puja on 16 May. She too fled from home on 17 May on the pretext of going to the market and took away the jewellery. The middlemen had taken Rs 80,000 each for arranging their marriage.
The police registered a case and sent the middlemen Bablu and Pushpa, residents of Aligarh, to jail. CO III Amrit Jain said that Pradeep is the kingpin of the gang. Apart from Aligarh, these people have committed 10-12 incidents in Jawan, Palwal, Rajasthan, Noida and nearby districts. They used to contact young men by changing the names of women. Jewelleries, cash etc. have been recovered from the accused.
