The Special Task Force of Uttar Pradesh (UPSTF) will again interrogate Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind President Maulana Mahmood Asad Madani in the matter of giving illegal Halal certificates. STF has also issued a notice to interrogate Madani again. Maulana Madani will have to appear before the STF next week. 

After interrogating several other organizations issuing Halal certificates and officials of the Halal Certificate Trust, STF has again called Mahmood Madani for further questioning. In the investigation and inquiry conducted so far in this matter, STF has received information about diverting the income from illegal Halal certificates through shell companies.

4 officials were arrested

After investigation, STF arrested four officials of the Halal Council of India (Mumbai), Maulana Mudassir, Habib Yusuf Patel, Anwar Khan, and Mohammad Tahir. Last year, on 23 November 2023, an FIR was registered against those who committed fraud by giving a Halal certificate in Hazratganj Kotwali, Lucknow. The investigation of this matter was given to STF.

Please note that the Halal Council of India is not authorized by NABCB (National Accreditation Board For Certification Bodies) or any other government organization. They do not conduct any lab test of any product before issuing the certificate. The recovery was being done by the organization by giving only the logo of Halal certified without any investigation and without any lab test. 

Along with the non-vegetarian products being exported, Halal certificates were also given to the dishes served in the restaurants, whereas the organization had no control over the preparation of the dishes. Halal certificates were being issued only to take money arbitrarily.
