UP News: The Uttar Pradesh government has given the option of choosing the old pension scheme for policemen. The DGP headquarters has also issued a directive regarding this. According to which, policemen appointed before March 28, 2005 can opt for the old pension scheme instead of NPS (National Pension System). The state government has taken this decision keeping in mind the demand of the policemen for the old pension scheme.
Policemen can choose their option till 31 October to avail the benefits of this scheme. Once the policemen choose the option, it will be the final option. Which cannot be changed. At the same time, in the instructions issued by the DGP Headquarters, it has also been said that if the employee fulfills the conditions to be covered under Age Retirement Benefits Rules 1961, then after approval of the administrative department in this regard, the appointing authority will issue the necessary order by 31 May 2025.
When will the deduction of contribution stop?
The deduction of subscriber contribution and employer contribution will be stopped from the salary of the next month after the order is issued. The National Pension System accounts of those employees who choose the old pension scheme will be closed from June 30, 2025. The employees' contribution deposited in the accounts under the National Pension System will be deposited in the GPF account of the person. The government contribution deposited in the accounts under the National Pension System will be deposited in the treasury.
NPS accounts of those who chose OPS will be closed
Police personnel were demanding the benefits of Old Pension Scheme (OPS) for a long time. The Central Government has already provided this facility to such personnel. According to the proposal approved by the Cabinet, it has been decided to provide a one-time option of old pension scheme to such employees who were appointed on or after 1 April 2005 but the advertisement for the post for appointment was published before 28 March 2005, the date of issuance of notification regarding implementation of NPS.
