Lucknow.  The state government is going to bring a new policy to free Waqf properties from illegal occupation and to allocate them in a transparent manner. After the introduction of this policy, a fine will also be collected from those who illegally occupy Waqf properties and make profits from it or those who damage it. This fine can be equal to 10 percent of the market value of the Waqf property annually.

On Friday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath saw the presentation of the proposed Waqf Rules 2024 with the officials of the Minority Welfare Department and also gave necessary instructions. Actually, Shia and Sunni Waqf Boards have a large number of properties in the state. These include land and buildings.

The mafia keeps an eye on the properties

The land mafia keeps an eye on these properties. These properties are illegally occupied in connivance with the Mutawallis. After this, they are used for residential and commercial purposes. In case of illegal occupation, the parties to the property will have to present their claim before the Chief Executive Officer of the concerned Waqf Board.

For transparency

The Chief Executive Officer will look at all the evidence during the hearing of the parties. If the encroachment is confirmed, it will be removed. If the eviction order is not followed, the Chief Executive Officer will hand over the matter to the Executive Magistrate
