Prayagraj. All efforts to increase the voting percentage in the spiritual, religious and educational city of Prayagraj have failed. Voting percentage has once again decreased in the Sangam city. The percentage has been decreasing since the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.

In 2014, 53.50 percent votes were cast in Allahabad parliamentary constituency and 52.20 percent votes were cast in Phulpur Lok Sabha constituency. In 2019, the voting percentage decreased. Then only 51.77 percent votes were cast in Allahabad and 48.53 percent in Phulpur.

This time the voting percentage was even less. In the year 2024, Allahabad parliamentary constituency witnessed 51.75 per cent voting and Phulpur witnessed 48.92 per cent voting. In Phulpur, the voting percentage was very less as compared to 2019.

This time there were 47 lakh 10 thousand voters in the district. There are 25 lakh 51 thousand male voters and 21 lakh 58 thousand female voters in the district. There are 20 lakh 67 thousand voters in Phulpur parliamentary constituency and 18 lakh 25 thousand voters in Allahabad. This time only about 50 percent voting could take place in the district.

According to administrative data, about 23.60 lakh voters of the district preferred to stay at home instead of voting. In Allahabad parliamentary seat, out of 18 lakh 25 thousand voters, about nine lakh voters did not vote.

Similarly, in Phulpur parliamentary constituency, out of 20 lakh 67 thousand voters, about 11 lakh voters did not vote. Even though sheds and pandals were erected for shade at the polling booths. Arrangements for pure drinking water were made. There was no ban on going to the booth by vehicles.

Apps were launched to provide information on everything from queues at booths to booth location. Efforts were being made to increase voting percentage for the past two months. The Sweep team organised several programmes. A total of 4712 polling parties in the district were ready at polling booths since 6 am.

A total of 21 thousand personnel were deployed for voting. According to the figures of the year 2019, about 22 lakh voters did not vote. This time it was being claimed that along with Allahabad, Phulpur will also pass in first division by voting more than 60 percent, but Allahabad could not even touch the figures of the last election.
