In a bilateral meeting between US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House, an agreement was reached to reduce the trade deficit between the two countries and start direct talks with Iran.

 

Prime Minister Netanyahu thanked President Trump, saying, "I thank the President once again for inviting me to the White House. He has shown a remarkable friendship for our alliance. We intend to eliminate the trade deficit with the United States and plan to do it very quickly."

 

Direct talks with Iran announced

President Trump announced during the meeting that the United States would begin direct high-level talks with Iran on its nuclear program, insisting that Iran would not be allowed to obtain nuclear weapons.

President Trump also commented on China, saying that if China does not remove its 34% retaliatory tax, the US will impose an additional 50% duty. He said, "We only have one chance at this, and no other president would do what I am doing."
