You must have noticed that whenever the construction of a house is started, a pair of silver Naag-Nagin is placed in its foundation. But do you know the reason behind this? There are some mythological beliefs behind this, which we are going to tell you about today.

What is recognition

In the fifth chapter of Shrimad Bhagwat Mahapuran, it is mentioned that there is Patal Lok (underworld) under the earth, whose lord is Sheshnag. Therefore, when the foundation is worshipped while building a house, a pair of Naag (snake) is kept there. It is also believed that Sheshnag is carrying the weight of the earth on his hood.

you get these benefits

Due to these beliefs, it is believed that if while constructing a house, a pair of snakes are placed in the foundation of the house and Sheshnag is invoked, then he protects your house. Along with this, the serpent god is also considered to be the protector of the house as well as property. According to Vastu beliefs, placing a pair of snakes in the foundation of the house also keeps Vastu defects away.

If we talk about silver, then it is considered as an auspicious metal. In such a situation, keeping a pair of silver snakes in the foundation of the house protects from negative forces and brings happiness and prosperity in the house. Keeping snakes made of brass instead of silver can also give many benefits.

That is why the urn is kept

According to beliefs, placing a Kalash with a silver Naag-Nagin while laying the foundation of the house is also considered very auspicious. According to religious beliefs, Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh (Lord Shiva) reside in the Kalash. Coins, flowers and milk are put in this Kalash and Sheshnag is invoked.
