The National Stock Exchange (NSE) has recently announced that it will include 45 stocks in the Futures and Options (F&O) segment. According to brokerage firm JM Financial, after inclusion in the F&O segment, Zomato and Jio Financial Services can be included in the frontline Nifty 50 index during the rebalancing of March 2025. It is mandatory for any stock in the F&O segment to be included in the Nifty 50 index.

On the other hand, auto sector major Eicher Motors and oil marketing company BPCL may be out of the benchmark. Zomato's inclusion may lead to passive investment of $607 million, while Jio Financial Services' inclusion is likely to attract an investment of $372 million. On the other hand, the exclusion of BPCL and Eicher Motors may see outflows of $223 and $239 million, respectively.

"For the March rebalancing, the index provider considers the average free float market cap prevailing between August 1 and January 31 periods," the brokerage said. It expects these changes based on the average free float market cap prevailing as of November 13. Announcements regarding index rejig are likely in February 2025. Other big names to be included in the F&O segment include BSE, Paytm, Avenue Supermarts, Adani Green Energy and Adani Total Gas. The exchange clarified that the market lot size, strike price range and other details for the newly added stocks will be announced in an official circular on November 28, a day before the commencement of F&O trading on November 29.
