25 years ago, actor Hrithik Roshan made his debut in acting with the film Kaho Naa Pyar. The success of the film made him a star overnight. The director of this film was Hrithik's father Rakesh Roshan. Rakesh also started his innings in the film industry with acting, but his talent did not get the respect it deserved. He tried his hand at direction and achieved fame.

His brother Rajesh Roshan took up music. Their father, musician Roshan, was the basis for both the brothers to enter the industry. The same Roshan who has kept Hindi cinema going with great ambitions…Saari saari raat teri yaad torment me, rehte the kabhi jinke dil mein, rahne na rahen na rahen na mehen meen…Man re tu kahen…, jo vaada kiya woh nibhaana hai, tum agar mujhko na chaho to koi baat nahi, zindagi bhar nahi bhoolgee woh barsaat ki raat (I will not forget you, I ...

Netflix has brought a docudrama series called The Roshans on the invaluable contribution and journey of three generations of the Roshan family in the film industry over the past six decades. This four-episode series begins with Rakesh's father, who is also making waves in the world of music, and Hrithik's grandfather Roshan, whose real name is Roshan Lal Nagrath.

What was shown in Roshan's documentary series?

At the beginning of the show, Hrithik plays a recently discovered song of his grandfather on a tape recorder. Later, he says, there is a very interesting story of how our family surname changed from Nagrath to Roshan. This is mentioned in the trailer as well but is not seen anywhere in the documentary.

The second episode covers Rajesh, the third Rakesh and the fourth Hrithik. The documentary traces the Roshan family's life through interviews with film personalities, singers, actors who have worked with them or have been inspired by their work, unseen family photos and iconic scenes and songs from the Roshan family's superhit films, with each episode titled after a song composed by the family.

These celebrities include Asha Bhosle, Suman Kalyan Puri, memoirs in the voice of Lata Mangeshkar, Sonu Nigam, Anand ji, Javed Akhtar, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Madhuri Dixit, Amisha Patel, Anil Kapoor, Abhishek Bachchan, Zoya Akhtar, Honey Irani, Ranbir Kapoor. In this documentary directed by Shashi Ranjan, Rakesh and Rajesh Roshan admit that film producers and directors opened their doors for them for the first time because they were sons of the great Roshan.

The series showcases the cinematic legacy of the Roshan family

Though the series doesn't reveal any new secrets, the Roshan family's most closely associated members like Rakesh Roshan's wife Pinky Roshan, his daughter Sunaina Roshan, Rajesh Roshan's wife Kanchan Roshan, their daughter Pashmina Roshan, or Hrithik's sons Hrehaan and Hridaan either limit their contributions to praising the male members of the family or make only brief appearances.

Similarly, whether it is Sanjay Leela or Khalid Mohammed, he does not talk about his films with Hrithik. Whereas that aspect should have been included. This series serves to introduce those who are unaware of the Roshan family to their cinematic legacy, but for those who are familiar with them, it is not unknown. They want new information.
