Mumbai. Actor Sharad Kelkar of films Tanhaji, Laxmi and Shrikant, apart from acting, also spreads the magic of his powerful voice. Sometimes in the dubbing of a film and sometimes by giving voice to an animated character. However, there was a time when people used to laugh on hearing this voice of his. He has once again given voice to the role of Ravana in the fourth season of the web series The Legend of Hanuman. A discussion on various aspects related to his voice and professional journey-

Once you had to face rejection because of your voice, but now you have started recognizing the voice. How do you see the journey from rejection to recognition?

In childhood, everyone gets a lot of lectures like keep trying, you will definitely get success, and victory lies beyond fear. At that time, it seemed what nonsense are they talking about.

Today I feel that people speak the right thing in their childhood. I won't say voice, but the style of speaking that people rejected is getting so much love today. I feel like this is a victory for me. I am happy that I did what I thought.

Such stories then become an inspiration for other people too...

People remain entangled in their flaws and do not engage in the process of understanding and improving them. I too remained entangled in them for years. There comes a time in everyone's life when one can do anything. When that moment came in my life, I felt that now I have to correct it. I often tell people that to make the impossible possible, one just has to remove the 'a'.

. Now, what do you do to maintain this voice?

I do nothing for it. People also advise me to take care of it, and keep it safe. I tell them that it is as it is now, what can be worse than this?

Which aspects of Ravan's personality impressed you the most?

The root cause of all problems in most people's lives is that people do not understand the difference between self-respect and ego. The feeling of ego is the most destructive for a human being. Ravana lost everything in his life because of his ego. If people understand this difference, then many problems will end.

What other projects are in the pipeline?

I am happy that all the work I did in the last one and a half years was different, I learned something from all of them. Next up is the biggest Marathi action film (Raanti), its release date will come in a month or two. I have done a web series. There is also another film (Sky Force) with Akshay Kumar.

How was the experience of meeting and working with Akshay on the sets again after Housefull 4 and Laxmii?

I really enjoy working with him. When I went to do the film, Laxmi, he had already shot his part. I was shown his work, so I knew what limits I had to stay within and what kind of expressions I had to keep. My soul was inside Akshay's role, I could not go out of that role.

Cinema is a world full of glamour, have you ever felt egoistic about stardom or anything else?

A person learns a lot from the past. When I started working on the show Saath Phere, it was the number one show at that time. At the same time, an award ceremony took place in which our heroine from our show got a nomination, she also got an award, but I did not even get a nomination.

I complained about this to my channel head and producer. Then they explained to me whether I wanted to be a star or an actor. I said, actor. Then they said that awards don't belong to anyone, today it's one star, and tomorrow it's another star. Stars always break and fall, become a good artists. I always remembered that. Even today I meet my old friends, eat and drink with them, and roam around with them.
