Noel Tata Update: Tata Trust Chairman Noel Tata's daughters Maya and Leah have been included in the board of Sir Ratan Tata Industrial Institute. Maya and Leah Tata have replaced Arnaz Kotwal and Freddy Talati on the board of Sir Ratan Tata Industrial Institute Trustees.
With this appointment, Noel Tata's children have entered the smaller board of Tata Trust. However, their entry into the two main trusts, Sir Ratan Tata Trust and Allied Trust and Sir Dorabji Tata Trust and Allied Trust, is yet to happen. Noel Tata was made the chairman of Tata Trust after the death of former Tata Group chairman Ratan Tata in October 2024.
Noel Tata has three children, two daughters Maya and Leah and a son Neville. The Sir Ratan Tata Industrial Institute, whose board of trustees includes Maya and Leah, works towards providing employment to women.
Tussle over Maya and Leah's appointment
According to the Economic Times report, the decision to include Maya and Leah in the trust has also started internal tussle. Arnaaz Kotwal wrote to other members of the trust complaining about how she was pressured to resign so that new trustees could be appointed. Arnaaz wrote, I am now in Dubai and after much thought I have accepted the request of Burjis, but I am very sad that none of you tried to talk to me directly on this matter. I was shocked to see this letter sent by a stranger under the direction of their CEO Siddharth Sharma, while both of them have no connection with Ratan Tata Industrial Institute.
Arnaaz Kotwal wrote in the email that Taraporewala, who is an executive in Tata Trust, asked him to resign at the behest of Noel Tata. He told that he also received a call regarding this matter from Mehli Mistry, trustee of Sir Dorabji Tata Trust and Sir Ratan Tata Trust. Mehli Mistry is the cousin of former Tata Group chairman Cyrus Mistry.
