SpiceJet 's manager's troubles have increased. Delhi Police's Economic Offenses Wing (EOW) has filed an FIR against SpiceJet's managing director and four other officials. Officials gave this information on Saturday. This FIR has been filed for allegedly not depositing 12 percent of the employees' share in the Provident Fund (PF) account. Officials said that the amount not deposited is Rs 65 crore. 

Case filed on complaint of EPFO 

An EOW official said that on the complaint of the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), an FIR was registered on September 16 under sections 409 (criminal breach of trust by public servant, or banker, merchant or agent) and 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC and investigation is underway. 

The suit was filed earlier

However, a SpiceJet spokesperson said in a statement, "The case was filed before the company raised funds through qualified institutional placement (QIP) and the airline has since paid all pending salary and GST dues." He said that ten months' PF dues have been deposited and the process of paying the remaining dues is underway. The company has recently raised Rs 3,000 crore. The airline announced on September 23 to raise Rs 3,000 crore by issuing shares on the basis of qualified institutional placement (QIP). 

The number of aircraft in the company's fleet decreased

An airline spokesperson said that within the first week of raising new funds, the company has paid all pending salary and GST dues and has made significant progress by depositing 10 months of PF dues. The process of paying other dues is underway, he said in the statement. Apart from this, the airline has reached an agreement with various aircraft lessors. SpiceJet is facing many challenges including financial problems and legal troubles. The number of aircraft in the company's fleet has also reduced.
