South Korea's President Yoon Suk Yol has apologized for imposing martial law in the country. In a televised address on Saturday, he said that this decision was taken out of frustration.

Voices of protest in Yol's party
In his address, Yol said that he would not shy away from legal or political responsibility for the decision to impose martial law. He said, 'I apologize that my decision caused trouble to the people. I leave the decision on future political stability to my party.'
After the President's address, Han Dong Hoon, a leader of his own People's Power Party, said that President Yol is no longer able to perform his responsibilities and he should now resign.
Earlier on Friday, Han had called President Yol dangerous for the country and said that he should be removed from power. Let us tell you that Yol had announced the imposition of martial law in South Korea on Tuesday.
The decision had to be withdrawn within 6 hours
The decision to impose martial law in South Korea was a dramatic development. At around 11 pm on Tuesday night, President Yoon Suk Yol began his address on TV. As usual, he accused the opposition of paralyzing the government.
He said that the opposition in the country is working on the agenda of North Korea. After this, Yol announced the imposition of martial law in the country. He said that this was necessary for the security of the country.
As soon as martial law was announced, people in the country got angry. The opposition surrounded the government, condemned the decision and appealed to the people to come out on the streets. Within no time, thousands of people reached the streets of South Korea.
People broke the army's barricades and somehow the opposition MPs entered the National Assembly. After this, voting was done in a hurry against the decision of martial law. 190 votes were cast against the decision and then within 6 hours the President had to withdraw his decision.
impeachment will be done on the president
The opposition has proposed impeachment of President Yoon Suk Yol. Voting on this is to be held in the National Assembly. However, the opposition will need a two-thirds majority to pass the proposal and impeach him.
There are about 190 MPs of opposition parties in the National Assembly of South Korea. The total number of MPs is 300. In such a situation, the opposition has a majority. This is the reason why the President has to accept the decision of the Parliament and he constantly accuses the opposition of not allowing the government to work.
If Yoon Suk-yol is impeached, South Korea's prime minister will be made the country's acting president and he will hold charge until elections are held within 60 days.
However, voices of protest are also being raised within Yol's own party. Many leaders of the People's Power Party have demanded that Yoon Suk Yol resign even before the voting on the impeachment motion.
