Legendary filmmaker Shyam Benegal is no more among us. He passed away on 23 December. The producer may not be in this world today, but his contribution to the world of cinema will always be remembered. From TV to the silver screen, he left a big mark with his work everywhere.

Talking about Shyam Benegal's achievements, it is not a film but a television series. This 53-episode series was based on Jawaharlal Nehru's book 'Discovery of India'. It was telecasted on Doordarshan. Rajiv Gandhi had requested Benegal to make it. In this way 'Bharat Ek Khoj' will be known as the third great epic of India.

Om Puri played many roles as a narrator in Bharat Ek Khoj. In this series, he played many roles like Duryodhan, Ashoka, Alauddin Khilji.

 

Irrfan Khan (Big Khan)

Irrfan Khan played the role of Bade Khan in this serial. Apart from this, he also appeared in the role of 'Abd al-Qadir Badayuni'. IMDb has given a rating of 8.9 to this show of Irrfan. Viewers can enjoy this show on YouTube.

 

Tom Alter (Chairman)
