Know the reason here (Maha Ashtami 11 October 2024 Importance)

According to the Vedic calendar, the Saptami date of Sharadiya Navratri will end on October 10 at 12:29 pm. After this, Ashtami date will start. On the Ashtami date of Navratri, Ashtami fast is observed for Maa Mahagauri. However, this time Saptami and Ashtami dates are falling on the same day. In the scriptures, it is forbidden to observe fast on Saptami and Ashtami Tithi (Maha Ashtami 2024 Celebration) on the same day. For this, Ashtami fast will be observed the next day.

Saptami Tithi is dedicated to Maa Kalaratri. Maa Kali is worshipped during Nishita Kaal on this Tithi. Hence, Saptami is on 09 October. Navpatrika and Sandhi Puja will be performed on 10 October. Whereas, Ashtami fast will be observed on 11 October. Ashtami Tithi will end on 11 October at 12:06 pm. After this, Navami Tithi will begin. Maa Siddhidatri will be worshipped during the auspicious time of Navami Tithi.
