In the wake of violence during a demonstration by Imran Khan's party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in Pakistan, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has taken several important decisions. Imran Khan is in jail in Pakistan, due to which his supporters protested, violence spread during the protest. Now the Shahbaz government has taken many decisions in this regard.
Pakistan's interior minister will chair the task force
Pakistan's Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi will chair the task force, which includes key members like Economic Affairs Minister Ahad Cheema, Information Minister Ataullah Tarar, Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar and representatives of the security forces.
Violence broke out when more than 10,000 PTI protesters defied a public gathering ban and blocked the city to clash with security forces. In response, riot police fired tear gas when protesters approached the barricaded D-Chowk, The Express Tribune reported.
Tension increased in Islamabad
Following the clashes, the PTI leadership cancelled its planned sit-in. However, the turmoil has increased political and security tensions in Islamabad. In response to the unrest, Shahbaz Sharif stated the need to create a dedicated force to address future protests more effectively.
The task force is expected to take swift action against those responsible for the violence. According to the report, apart from this, the federal government of Pakistan will also create a federal riot-control force, which will be equipped with advanced equipment and training based on international standards.
