WFI President Sanjay Singh on Vinesh Phogat And Bajrang Punia: Vinesh Phogat, who was disqualified for the 2024 Paris Olympics due to being 100 grams overweight, and Olympic medal-winning star wrestler Bajrang Punia have joined the Congress party. Now the first reaction of Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) President Sanjay Singh has come on this. He has asked to register a case of treason.

On Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat joining Congress, Indian Wrestling Association President Sanjay Singh said that sedition case should be filed against the protesting players. Let us tell you that Vinesh Phogat is the Congress candidate from Julana seat in the upcoming Haryana assembly elections. At the same time, Bajrang Punia has been made the chairman of Kisan Morcha by the Congress. He will not contest the elections for now.

Vinesh was disqualified before the final

Let us tell you that Vinesh Phogat was a strong contender for the gold medal in the 2024 Paris Olympics. However, before the final match, she was disqualified due to being 100 grams overweight. After this, Vinesh had demanded a silver medal in CAS, but the court rejected her case.

Earlier, WFI chief Sanjay Singh had said that the opposition of wrestlers is the main reason why Indian wrestlers could not win enough medals in Paris Olympics 2024. India had sent a six-member team to the Paris Olympics, but only one young wrestler, Aman Sehrawat, who was on the Olympic stage for the first time, remained on the podium. Aman won the bronze medal in the men's 57 kg category.

Sanjay Singh, who took over as WFI chief in December last year, had said that due to the stress caused by the protests that lasted for almost a year, wrestlers could not get enough time to prepare for the Olympics. Due to the protests that lasted for about 14-15 months, the players' focus on wrestling was very less, due to which their preparation was also very less.
