Moscow: To show off Russia's nuclear power, Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday launched a new exercise of the country's nuclear forces. On this occasion, he said that Russia needs to keep nuclear weapons ready. Russia is conducting such a nuclear training exercise for the second time in just two weeks at a crucial point in the war that has been going on for more than two and a half years with Ukraine.
Moscow has been repeatedly saying that Russia will respond if the US and its allies help Ukraine with long-range missiles. Putin was seen announcing the exercise in a video released by the Kremlin, the Russian presidential palace.
Warning about consequences
Russian forces previously conducted nuclear exercises on October 18. Russia is the world's largest nuclear power. Russia and the US alone have 88 percent of the world's nuclear weapons. US officials say they have seen no change in Russia's nuclear stance during a war. But in 2022 the United States is so concerned about Russia's possible use of tactical nuclear weapons that it has warned Putin about the consequences of using such weapons, according to Central Intelligence Agency Director Bill Burns.
America also warned
Recently, US President Joe Biden has warned Russia that if it uses nuclear weapons, this war can lead directly to the Third World War. Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump also warned about the risk of nuclear war.
Putin is increasing the power of Russia
Putin said it is important to have modern and constantly ready-to-use strategic forces in view of growing geopolitical tensions and new external threats and risks. Russia is moving towards new "stationary and mobile-based missile systems."
The Pentagon said on Monday the United States would not impose new limits on Ukraine's use of US weapons if North Korea joins the war against Russia, as NATO said North Korean military units were deployed to Russia's Kursk region.
