Amidst the echoes of the new era of cinema, on the occasion of the inauguration of the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI), honoring the legacy of four legends of Indian cinema - Raj Kapoor, Mohammed Rafi, Tapan Sinha and A Nageshwar Rao - won the hearts of film lovers.
Boman Irani stole the show at the film festival
Famous actor Boman Irani, who has enriched Hindi cinema with different shades of his acting, enthralled the inaugural ceremony by refreshing the memories of these great artists in a literary style. The film festival began with the red-carpet premiere of the film 'Better Man' directed by Australian filmmaker Michael Gracey.
From Ishaan Khattar to Manushi Chillar, Bollywood stars spread the colours of Indian cinema and culture through their dance and music. Famous actors Nagarjuna, Nithya Menon, Amala, Vikrant Massey, Rakul Preet, Rajkumar Rao, Jaideep Ahlawat, Randeep Hooda etc. were also present during this time.
Special postage stamps released remembering the legends of cinema
The most special thing about this edition of the International Film Festival of India was that a new tradition of remembering the contribution of the legends of cinema started. Under this, special postage stamps were also issued in memory of Mohammed Rafi, Raj Kapoor, A Nageshwar Rao and Tapan Sinha on the occasion of their centenary year.
At the ceremony, the chief guest, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, film festival director actor Shekhar Kapur and Union Information and Broadcasting Secretary Sanjay Jaju along with the families of these four great artists unveiled the special honor postage stamp.
The special thing about the festival is that not only Hindi cinema but the participation of films and their actors from all major Indian languages including Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam is more than ever before. The presence of actors like Tamil superstar Sharath Kumar during this festival underlines the growing size of Indian cinema.
During this, Sharath also said that India is not only the world's largest film content producer but also its audience and now is the time to tell our stories to end the ongoing conflict in the world. He said that the only way to stop fights and conflicts in the world is cinema which tells the story of human relationships.
Bhumi Pednekar and Abhishek Banerjee also added to the beauty
Sanjay Jaju also agreed with this and asked the filmmakers to come forward to take Indian cinema to the world market. In this direction, the Information and Broadcasting Secretary called the NFDC's Film Bazaar initiative an effective platform for this and urged the filmmakers to play an active role in it. Actress Bhumi Pednekar and Abhishek Banerjee, who were hosting the event, kept the large number of cine lovers present there engaged for hours with their style.
During this, famous Bollywood filmmaker Subhash Ghai, while discussing the background of making his short film "Gandhi Ek Drishtikrona" which will be screened at the function on Thursday, said that today the new generation often raises questions about the contribution of Mahatma Gandhi. Such questions have been answered through this film and actor Manoj Bajpayee is playing the central role in it.
Films from around the world will be shown till November 28
On this occasion, the CM of Goa also launched Prasar Bharati's new entertainment app 'Webhas'. Hundreds of films from India and abroad will be screened during the film festival which will continue till November 28. 25 feature and 20 non-feature films have been included in the Indian Panorama section.
This time a record number of 1676 films from 101 countries were entered in the World Cinema section. This time the special focus country in the festival is Australia. During the festival, the journey of development of Indian cinema will also be highlighted which has touched the stage of modern cinema from the silent era.
