Risk of heart disease:  Drinking alcohol can harm your health. According to the Centers for Disease and Prevention, if a man consumes 5 drinks at a time and a woman consumes 4 drinks at a time, then she is classified as a heavy drinker. Recently, there has been a study on alcoholic drinks that states that women who drink more than eight alcoholic drinks a week have a higher risk of heart disease than women who drink less alcohol.

What does the study say?

The aim of the research by the 'American College of Cardiology' was to find out the relationship between alcohol consumption and coronary heart disease, hence this study was conducted. At the Cancer Permanent Healthcare Organization in Northern California, researchers used and analyzed data from more than 4.32 lakh people aged 18 to 65.

According to the American College of Cardiology, among those individuals, about 2.43 lakh were men and 1.89 lakh were women and their average age was 44 years. In the research, they were examined during 2014 and 2015. They used to drink in less, moderate, or more quantity. After this, their data was collected again after 4 years.

Dr. Jamal Rana, heart specialist and head of the study from California, told Fox News Digital, 'Nowadays, the rumor is spreading that drinking alcohol is good for the heart, but research has found evidence to support this belief. Going against. I think there needs to be a lot more awareness that alcohol can be responsible for increasing the risk of heart disease.

safe drink limit

Research has found the low alcohol intake level to be 1-2 drinks per week for both men and women. According to the American College of Cardiology, 3-14 drinks per week for men and 3-7 drinks per week for women is considered moderate drinking. Whereas for men, 15 or more drinks a week, and for women, 8 or more drinks were kept in the category of excessive drinking.

When examined after four years, researchers found that 3108 people in the study had been treated for coronary heart disease, which was aggravated by excessive alcohol consumption.

Women who drank 8 or more drinks per week had a 33 to 51 percent higher risk of heart disease than women who drank less alcohol.

When a study was conducted on women who drank excessively, it was found that the risk of heart disease was two-thirds higher in women who drank excessively than in women who drank moderately.

Dr. Rana says, 'These results are shocking and I did not expect that the risk of heart disease would increase due to drinking even in younger women because this is often seen in older women.'
