Ratan Tata Indian industrialist and former chairman of Tata Group was born on 28 December 1937 in Bombay. After this, he continued his studies at Cathedral and John Connon School and then Bishop Cotton School in Shimla.

After his schooling, Ratan Tata enrolled at Cornell University in the US, where he received a Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch) degree. This experience helped broaden his perspective. After this, in 1975, he did the Advanced Management Program from Harvard Business School, which gave him a deeper understanding of management and leadership.

Early career

Ratan Tata started his career with the Tata Group in the 1960s. He started working on the shop floor of Tata Steel, where he extracted limestone and managed the blast furnace. During this time he gained experience in various areas of the Tata Group, which later proved helpful in his leadership.

In 1991, Ratan Tata took over as the chairman of Tata Sons. Under his leadership, the Tata Group not only increased its income but also made its mark globally. The Tata Group expanded into many sectors, such as steel, automobiles, information technology, telecommunications and hospitality.
