Meerut News Today: The air quality in Meerut, located just a few kilometres from the central capital Delhi, is continuously deteriorating. Every day the level of pollution is becoming dangerous and as Diwali approaches, the situation may become even more serious.

Every day, shocking figures of air quality are coming out in Meerut. Despite this, the general public is unaware of the danger and is taking all the steps that increase air pollution. The departments responsible for this are also running away from their responsibility.

Meerut is also included in the top 10 polluted cities.
Even before Diwali, the Air Quality Index (AQI) deteriorates in many cities of the country. This time Meerut is at the eighth position in the list of top 10 most polluted cities of the country. Delhi is at the first position in this list, while Meerut's eighth position is a matter of concern.

Even though the second phase of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) has been implemented in Delhi, there is no improvement in the air quality and the pollution level is continuously becoming dangerous.

AQI reached 271 in Meerut.
Along with Delhi, the level of pollution is becoming dangerous in Meerut too. On Tuesday, Meerut's AQI was recorded at 271, which is a matter of serious concern for the people. It has a very bad effect on health.

During this period, AQI was recorded at 257 in Jaibhim Nagar, 290 in Ganganagar, 267 in Pallavapuram, 275 in Begumpul and 280 on Delhi Road. The weather also remained stable, where the maximum temperature of the day was recorded at 32.7 degrees Celsius and the minimum at 19.4 degrees Celsius.

The air quality will deteriorate further on Diwali.
The pollution level may increase further due to the large scale fireworks on Diwali. Currently the AQI is 271, but it may reach dangerous levels during Diwali. The Municipal Corporation is spraying water, but despite all efforts, the pollution level is not decreasing, which is a serious alarm bell for the future.

Pollution Control Board made this claim.
Bhuvan Prakash Yadav, Regional Officer of Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board, Meerut said that the instructions of Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) are being followed. The second phase of action has started.

Meerut's regional officer Bhuvan Prakash Yadav said that all departments including the Municipal Corporation have been instructed to continue sprinkling water and not allow construction in the open. We are constantly monitoring and every possible effort is being made to reduce the level of pollution.
