Perhaps that is why they have been given the status of God. National Doctor's Day is celebrated in honor of the famous doctor and second Chief Minister of Bengal, Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy.  

Why is Doctors Day celebrated only on 1 July in India?

Although Doctors Day is celebrated on different days in different countries around the world, but in India this day is celebrated on 1 July, because India's famous physician Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy was born on 1 July 1882 and he also died on 1 July in the year 1962. Doctors Day was started on 1 July to honor his contribution in the medical field.

The purpose of celebrating Doctors Day

The purpose of celebrating this day is to make people aware about the contribution of doctors and their work. Those who sacrifice their happiness and sorrow and live for the patients. They play an important role in keeping the society disease-free, so the purpose of celebrating this day is to celebrate their contribution. During the Covid infection, it was the doctors who were continuously doing duty for hours without caring about their lives. Many doctors also lost their lives. The sacrifice of these doctors is also remembered on this day.   

Doctors Day 2024 Theme

Every year Doctors Day is celebrated with some theme. The theme of National Doctors Day in the year 2024 is- “Healing Hands, Caring Hearts”

In the year 2023, the day was celebrated with the theme “Celebrating Resilience and Healing Hands”.
