NTPC has formed a new subsidiary company named NTPC Parmanu Urja Nigam Ltd. to enter the field of nuclear energy.
NTPC's entry in nuclear energy business
NTPC shared information under SEBI regulation in view of the finite obligation and disclosure requirements in regulatory filings with stock exchanges, stating that a new subsidiary company of NTPC named NTPC Nuclear Power Corporation Limited (NPUNL) has been established on 7 January 2025 to enter the nuclear energy business. This new company will be fully owned by NTPC Limited.
The new company is responsible for expanding the nuclear energy business
NTPC said that the objective of NTPC Nuclear Power Corporation Limited is to formulate and implement an integrated programme for the development and use of nuclear energy for electricity generation and other purposes on a commercial basis and as an agent for the production, management, operation of nuclear energy, promotion of research and development and selection of suitable locations for nuclear power stations and all types of ancillary facilities.
DIPAM and NITI Aayog gave the green signal
The company said in a regulatory filing that the Ministry of Power, Government of India, had sent a proposal to DIPAM and NITI Aayog on September 11, 2024 and NTPC got approval from both of them to form a subsidiary company to enter the nuclear energy business.
NTPC shares will get wings!
The stock of NTPC Limited is trading down by 0.49 per cent at Rs 327.25 on 8 January 2024 trading session after the formation of NTPC Nuclear Power Corporation Limited to enter the nuclear energy business.
