Varanasi. Bijendra Singh, Private Secretary to the Gorakhpur Project Director of National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), and Jai Pratap Singh Chauhan, Deputy Manager of Varanasi Regional Officer Office have been suspended in the case of taking a bribe for giving No Objection Certificate (NOC) to a petrol pump.the Apart from this, action has been taken to dismiss technical assistant Mukesh Kumar of Varanasi RO office. NHAI has appointed a separate investigation committee in the case. It will submit its report apart from the CBI investigation.A week ago, five officers of the CBI team raided the regional officer's office of Varanasi East region. During this, the mobile phones of all the employees were switchedthe off. The team took Jai Singh Chauhan and Mukesh with them.

During his arrest from the Gorakhpur PD office, Bijendra had told CBI that part of the bribe is sent to the Varanasi East Zone office. He is not the only culprit in this. After this, CBI team reached East Zone office and started questioning the deputy manager and assistant Pratap Singh has been posted in the RO office for a year, before this he has also worked in the Gorakhpur PD office. He has been in contact with Bijendra since then. Bijendra had demanded a bribe of Rs 1.5 lakh from the complainant for the NOC of the petrol pump, in this the CBI arrested him red-handed with a bribe amount of Rs 50 thousand.Jai Pratap Singh has been posted in the RO office for a year, before this he has also worked in the Gorakhpur PD office.
