Two cars with the same number plate were found parked outside the world famous Taj Hotel in Mumbai on Monday. Both the white cars had yellow number plates. The number MH 01 EE 2388 was seen on both the cars. Taj Hotel was targeted during the 26/11 terrorist attack, so there is a tight security system in this area. Despite this, when two cars with the same number were found, the police was immediately informed about it.

The accused told the whole story to the police

When the police brought both the cars to Colaba Police Station and questioned the drivers, they found out what was the matter. Actually, a cab driver from Mumbai had tampered with his number plate and installed a fake number plate to avoid paying car loan installments. The accused driver told the police that he had changed the last digit of the car number to 8 to avoid debt recovery agents. The accused has been arrested.

The accused did such a crime for not paying the installment

The registration number of this car is MH 01 EE 2383. Police said that the accused driver Prasad Chandrakant Kadam had taken a loan to buy a car, but was unable to pay the installment. He was afraid that the finance company from which he had taken the loan could seize the car. That is why he committed this fraud.

What did the complainant say?

"The complainant Saqir Ali realised that his car was constantly receiving traffic violation e-challans. Ali was surprised to find that the car never went to the areas where the challans were issued. He also found out about the theft of toll charges. Ali approached the traffic police with the complaint, but no solution could be found," the official said.

Finally, on Monday, by chance, the car was found which had the same number plate as his car. On Monday around 11.30 am, Ali was dropping a passenger at the Taj Hotel when he noticed another car with the same number plate.

He got out and tried to stop him, but the driver drove off. When Ali informed the police, they stopped the car and brought it to the Colaba Police Station. On Ali's complaint, a case was registered under the Indian Penal Code and Kadam was arrested.
