The Dadasaheb Phalke Award is India's highest award in the field of cinema. It is given every year at the National Film Awards ceremony. The award consists of a Golden Lotus medal, a shawl and a cash prize of Rs 1,000,000. This year at the National Film Awards, veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty will be given this award for his contribution to Indian cinema. The award was first given to actress Devika Rani in 1969. Last year, actress Waheeda Rehman was honored with this prestigious award.
