The government has informed that Rs 2,364 crore has been earned by removing about 131.4 lakh files and other useless items occupying space in government offices. The Prime Minister was told that as a result of this, about 643.8 lakh square feet of space has been freed up in government offices.
This year, the government has earned the highest amount of money in the Swachchta Abhiyan which was run for about a month. This year, Rs 650 crore came into the government treasury and more than 25 lakh physical files were disposed of.
This year the campaign covered all states, union territories and foreign missions and posts. Government offices include railway stations, post offices, banks, airports, ports, coal fields and mines. Far-flung areas like Nubra Valley, Dhanbad, Kandla, Leepa Road, Nicobar Islands and Birbhum were also covered.
This Swachh Bharat Abhiyan was 97 times more extensive than the first one 4 years ago. This time more than 2.9 lakh schools, more than one lakh post offices, more than 56,000 railway properties and about 39,000 defense premises were part of this campaign.
