Rome.  It has been more than 2 years since the Russia-Ukraine war, but the war is still not stopping. On May 10, the Russian army launched a ground attack on the northeastern Kharkiv region of Ukraine. Ukraine's governor claimed on Saturday that about 10,000 people have been forced to leave their homes in Ukraine's northeastern Kharkiv region since this ground attack.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky told AFP the attack could be the first wave of a wider assault. Governor Oleg Sinegubov said a week after the attack, 'a total of 9,907 people had been evacuated.'

Ukrainian people escaping from Russian soldiers

Everyone was running away from Russian soldiers. Let us tell you that the Russian army has crossed the border by five to 10 kilometers (three to six miles) on the north-eastern border. The Russian army has captured 278 square kilometers (107 square miles) between 9 and 15 May, which is their biggest gain since the end of 2022.

Speaking about the attack during a visit to China on Friday, President Vladimir Putin said it was a response to Ukraine's shelling of Russian border areas. Putin said Zelensky "underestimated Russia's lead in the invasion."
