Up ByPolls 2024: The villagers of Chaman Nagariya village have announced boycott of voting in the by-election to be held on the Khair assembly seat of Aligarh. The villagers said that due to the negligence of the electricity department, accidents are happening continuously due to 33 thousand high tension power lines. Due to which they will boycott voting in the by-election.
Villagers say that a 10-year-old child lost one hand and one leg and one person of the village died due to electric shock after coming in contact with the 33 thousand volts high tension power line passing above the village. While other people narrowly escaped death due to electric shock. Also, villagers said that despite the demand to remove the lines, they have only received assurances, but no concrete steps have been taken. Due to which the villagers have warned that they will not vote until both the power lines are removed.

innocent child Shaurya, who lost his one hand and leg after getting burnt in a high tension electricity line, said that the incident happened about 1 year back. He was playing on the roof of his house when a strong storm came. Due to the storm, the loose electricity wires passing above his house swung and came down. Due to which he got badly burnt after coming in contact with the live wires. He lost one hand and one leg in the accident.
Shaurya's father Manoj Kumar said that the incident that happened with his child should not happen with anyone else. Regarding this, all the 1200 voters in the by-election to be held in Khair Vidhansabha 71 have decided to boycott voting on the day of polling until both the high tension electricity wires passing above the houses inside the village are not removed. Even before this incident, a person from the village has died after getting stuck to the electricity wires.
Action will be taken on receipt of SDM application.
Giving information on the whole matter, Sub-District Magistrate Khair Mahima Singh Rajput said that no application has reached him from Nagla Chaman Nagariya. If any such application comes, then after listening to the problems of the villagers, the concerned officer will be instructed. Voting is the right of the public. Awareness campaigns were run to get maximum number of people to vote. If the villagers are facing any problem, then they can get their problem resolved by giving a complaint letter.
