61 lakh jobs will be available by 2036-37
According to a report by Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) and consultancy company Ernst & Young (EY), 61 lakh new jobs will be created in the tourism and hospitality sector by 2036-37. To get these jobs, specialization in skills related to digital marketing, sustainable tourism and customer services will be required. In this report, a proposal has been made to release a tourism employment index. So that employment trends and action plans for preparing the workforce can be constantly monitored.
Will play an important role in economic development and employment generation
In the 18th Annual Tourism Summit of CII, it was emphasized that the tourism and hospitality sector will play an important role in economic development and employment generation in the coming days. Currently, tourism and hospitality contribute to eight percent of India's total employment. Despite the shock of Corona, this sector has progressed to this position due to the boom in domestic tourism. By 2036-37, employment in this sector is expected to double. Out of the new 61 lakh jobs, 46 lakh will be for men and 15 lakh for women. This will help in expanding the workforce as well as increasing the participation of women. This will expand the network of providing quality service with the help of gig economy in special seasons.
