UP ByPolls 2024: For the by-elections of 9 seats in Uttar Pradesh, Rashtriya Lok Dal, an ally of the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), has announced the candidate for the Meerapur assembly constituency. BJP has given the Meerapur seat to RLD. RLD has expressed confidence in Mithlesh Pal from this seat. Mithilesh Pal is a BJP leader. Many RLD leaders have been shocked by this decision of Jayant Chaudhary. Mithilesh Pal was elected MLA from Morna assembly seat in the 2009 by-election. She was then in RLD. At the same time, SP has fielded Sumbul Rana and BSP has fielded Shahnazar from Meerapur.

In the 2022 elections, Chandan Chauhan won this seat on a RLD ticket. However, at that time RLD had an alliance with SP. In February this year, RLD broke ties with SP and joined NDA. After this, Chandan Chauhan was given a ticket in the Lok Sabha elections from Bijnor . After Chandan won the election, the Meerapur seat was declared vacant.

The number of Muslim voters is more in Meerapur assembly seat. Here Muslim voters play an important role in the victory or defeat of any candidate. There are more than one lakh Muslim voters here, while more than 50 thousand are scheduled castes. Similarly, there are 24 thousand Jats and 18 thousand Gurjars. Both these castes have got 50 percent votes. At some places, scheduled caste voters have also been inclined towards the alliance. In such a situation, they have become the main basis of victory. In urban areas and Kakaroli, Bhokarheri belt, they have been leading in playing the main role in the victory of the alliance.

Let us tell you that in the 2022 assembly elections, there was news of Muslim voters getting scattered. But the election results showed exactly the opposite. Here, former MLA Maulana Jameel from BSP, Mohammad Salim Qureshi from Congress also failed to make inroads into Muslim voters. This SP and RLD alliance candidate Chandan Chauhan won.
