Netanyahu's action has caused a stir across the world, many countries are struggling to evacuate their citizens. India has also recently advised its citizens not to travel to Lebanon due to this war. 

More than 4000 Indians in Lebanon

According to official figures, there are more than 4000 Indians in Lebanon and the central government has urged everyone to leave as soon as possible.

According to the website of the Indian Consulate in Beirut, Indian citizens living in Lebanon work in the construction sector, agricultural farms, etc.

Advisory issued to Indians

The Indian Embassy has urged all Indian nationals to avoid travelling to the region during the conflict. The government has also urged all Indian nationals in Lebanon to leave as soon as possible.

"All Indian nationals already in Lebanon are also strongly advised to leave Lebanon. Those who are staying there for any reason need to exercise utmost caution. They are advised to stay in touch with the Indian Embassy in Beirut through email ID: cons.beirut@mea.gov.in or emergency phone number +96176860128," the embassy said.

PM Modi spoke to Netanyahu on phone

Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over the phone a few hours before the ground offensive began. The two leaders talked about how terrorism needs to be eradicated so that peace can be restored.

The conflict escalated after Nasrallah's death

The Israeli army recently carried out several air strikes in Lebanon, in which Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah was killed. Now Israel has started ground action. However, a few months ago, Hezbollah fired rockets in northern Israel after the war started in Gaza, after which Israel had talked about taking revenge.
