(India-Russia Relation) : Prime Minister Narendra Modi discussed several issues with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The PM also held a bilateral meeting with Putin, where issues ranging from the economic front to the Russia-Ukraine war were discussed. During this, the PM also raised the issue of the inclusion of Indians in the Russian army during the war. A statement from Russian Ambassador Roman Babushkin has now come out.

Russia refused to include Indians

Russia has categorically denied recruiting Indians in its army as part of any campaign. Russian Charge d'Affaires in India Roman Babushkin said that Russia has not recruited Indians in its army as part of any campaign and neither does it want to do so.

Indians will be sent back

Along with this, the ambassador also assured that Indians who have joined the army there under whatever circumstances will be sent back to India soon. Let us tell you that after PM Modi raised this issue, President Vladimir Putin had said that all Indians would be sent back home.

The ambassador told why he joined the Indian Army

The ambassador further said that we did not run any campaign to recruit any Indian in the army nor did we give any advertisement. He said that it is possible that at the moment a maximum of 100 Indians are associated with the army there, but considering the size of the Russian army, this is much less.

The ambassador said that we are with the Indian government. He said that as far as Indians joining the army is concerned, it is very likely that they joined under some commercial agreement because they wanted to earn some money. We did not want to recruit them.

Those killed will get Russian citizenship

When the ambassador was asked if the Indians who were killed in the Ukraine war would be given Russian citizenship, he said that it could be possible because sometimes there are such conditions in the agreement.
