US President Donald Trump said that he hopes India will soon reduce tariffs imposed on American goods. Along with this, he again reiterated that America will impose tariffs on India from April 2. In an interview to an American news website, Trump said that he has a good relationship with India.
What did Trump say about the EU?
Trump said, 'We have a powerful group of partners in trade. Yet, we cannot let those partners treat us badly. We treat our enemies better than our friends in many ways. Like the European Union, which treats us very badly in terms of trade, India and everyone will think of them as an ally.
Trump said,
I believe they are probably going to reduce those tariffs substantially, but on April 2 we will charge them the same tariffs that they charge us. Regarding the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEEC), he said that this is a group of great countries, which are uniting to face those countries, which are harming America in trade. During this, he did not name China. This agreement was signed during PM Modi's visit to America.
