New Delhi. The results of the Lok Sabha elections were declared on Tuesday, in which the fate of Bollywood stars was also decided.

Veteran actress and BJP leader Hema Malini has won a spectacular victory in the Lok Sabha elections. Hema Malini, who contested from Mathura Lok Sabha constituency, defeated her nearest rival Mukesh Dhangar of Congress. Hema will reach Parliament for the third time by contesting from the Mathura seat.

On this victory of the Dream Girl, her daughter Esha Deol also congratulated her. Esha shared Hema's picture and wrote- Congratulations, Mama. Hat-trick. 

Let us tell you, Hema Malini had reached Mathura on June 2 in view of the counting of votes on June 4. She had also tweeted about the expectation of a huge victory for BJP based on the exit polls. Hema Malini's political career started in 1999. The credit for taking her into politics goes to Vinod Khanna, for whom she had campaigned in Gurdaspur.

Hema Malini reached the Rajya Sabha for the first time in 2003 and then joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in 2004. In 2010, she was appointed the general secretary of the BJP and reached the Rajya Sabha again in 2011.

In 2014, Hema contested the Lok Sabha elections from Mathura for the first time and won. After this, Hema Malini was victorious in 2019 as well.

Active in politics after films

Hema made her debut in the 1963 Tamil film Idhu Sathiyam. Her debut film in Hindi cinema was Sapnon Ka Saudagar, in which Raj Kapoor played the lead role. After this, Hema Malini played the heroine's role in many hit Hindi films. Her pairing with Dharmendra was a hit at the box office and was also much talked about off screen. 

She married Dharmendra in 1980. Their marriage was also quite famous. Hema is currently away from the world of cinema. Her last film was Shimla Mirchi, which was released in 2020.
