Heart is a very important part of the body, which works continuously till the last breath. Almost everyone knows about heart attack and stroke, but there is a condition which is very common, but people do not have the correct information about it. This condition is heart arrhythmia. If not taken care of, it can create an even more dangerous situation.

What is heart arrhythmia?

When the electric signals that make the heart beat do not work properly, causing the heartbeat to become irregular, it is called heart arrhythmia. In such a case, the heart either starts beating very fast or very slowly. This increases the risk of heart failure or stroke.

The symptoms of heart arrhythmia are as follows-

  • Irregular heartbeat
  • heart beating loudly
  • heaviness in head
  • breathlessness
  • Chest pain
  • Extreme Fatigue

Heart Arrhythmia and Omega Three

Omega 3 fatty acids contribute to reducing the risk of heart arrhythmia. According to a study by the Harvard School of Public Health Research, people with low levels of omega 3 fatty acids in their blood have a lower risk of heart arrhythmia than those with high levels of omega 3 fatty acids in their blood.

Omega 3 is an essential fatty acid, which means that it is one of the fatty acids required by the body. It is essential for the body, but it cannot make it on its own. It is completely dependent on our diet for the supply of omega 3. It is present in the outer layer of every cell of the body, which is called the cell membrane. It also plays a very important role in the development of the retina of the child along with the brain.

How is omega 3 beneficial?

  • Omega three fatty acids are found in nutrient dense foods like oily fish, fish oil supplements, eggs, nuts, soybeans, walnuts, flax seeds, chia seeds.
  • Consumption of omega-3 reduces the amount of triglycerides in the blood. Triglycerides are harmful fats that accumulate in the blood and increase the risk of stroke.
  • Omega-3 prevents plaque, which is made up of fat, cholesterol and calcium, from accumulating. Plaque can harden and block arteries.
  • Omega 3 helps in reducing blood pressure, which keeps the heart healthy.
  • Omega 3 prevents blood clots.
