New Delhi: The Supreme Court will hear on Friday a plea seeking a probe into the recent stampede in Hathras.The petition sought the appointment of a five-member expert committee under the supervision of a retired Supreme Court judge to probe the July 2 stampede in which 121 people were killed. According to the July 12 agenda uploaded on the Supreme Court website, the petition will come up for hearing before a bench comprising Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, Justice JB Pardiwala, and Justice Manoj Mishra.

This demand has been made in the petition

The petition filed by advocate Vishal Tiwari also demanded the Uttar Pradesh government to file a status report on the incident and initiate legal action against the negligent officials. In this, the Supreme Court has been requested to direct the states to issue guidelines to prevent stampede or other incidents for the safety of the public during the organization of any religious or other event.
