Kirsten is the same coach under whom Team India won the ODI World Cup in 2011. His tenure with Pakistan did not last long and he resigned after only six months.

Before becoming the coach of Pakistan, Kirsten was the coach of Gujarat Titans. When Gujarat made its debut in IPL-2022, Ashish Nehra was the mentor of the team and Kirsten was the head coach. Under his leadership, the team played the finals for two consecutive years, out of which it managed to win the IPL title in 2022. Kirsten left Gujarat due to joining the Pakistan team. Now that he has ended his relationship with the Pakistan team, Gujarat can think of adding him again.
