ISRO, which is preparing for the country's first human space mission Gaganyaan, in collaboration with the Navy conducted the well deck recovery test of Gaganyaan. ISRO said on Tuesday that this test was done at the Eastern Naval Command on December 6 off the Visakhapatnam coast using a well deck ship.
what is called well deck ship
Well deck ships are ships that can be filled with water so that boats, landing vehicles, spacecraft can be carried inside the ship. In fact, at the end of the mission, after the crew module lands in the sea, the crew has to be recovered as quickly as possible.
This is how the module will work
For this, the crew module is pulled inside the deck of the ship along with the crew so that the astronauts can come out comfortably. This process included connecting the recovery buoy, pulling the crew module, entering the well deck ship, determining the exact position of the crew module and testing for draining water from the well deck.
This test is part of the recovery mission of the crew module, which will be used to bring the astronauts back to Earth after their mission. This test will help in improving the standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Three astronauts will be sent under the Gaganyaan mission
Under the Gaganyaan mission, three astronauts will be sent to an orbit of 400 km for a three-day mission and will be landed in the Indian sea area. Through this mission, India will demonstrate its capability to send astronauts into space and bring them back to Earth.
Gaganyaan rockets are ready
ISRO Chairman Somnath had said that we have been engaged in the Gaganyaan mission for the last 4 years. The rockets are fully ready. The first unmanned flight will be launched early next year. He said that earlier we wanted to launch it in December. But due to technical reasons, it has been postponed a bit.
