Ratan Tata News: Industrialist Ratan Tata died on Wednesday night. He was ill for the past few days. Ratan Tata's last rites will be performed on Thursday at Worli crematorium in Mumbai, the capital of Maharashtra. Meanwhile, people are remembering Ratan Tata in their own way. In this sequence, Asim Arun, a minister in the Yogi government, has shared a letter. This letter is from the time when he was serving in the Special Protection Group i.e. SPG for the security of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Aseem Arun wrote on social media site X- When Ratan Tata Ji taught SPG the recipe of excellence… This incident must have taken place in 2007 or 2008, when I was in the security of the Prime Minister in SPG. The motto of Special Protection Group (SPG) is 'Zero Error' and in SPG, brainstorming and action is always going on for this. In this sequence, a lecture was organized in which Shri Ratan Tata Ji was invited as a speaker.

The minister in the Yogi government wrote- In SPG, it is a common courtesy on such occasions that an officer goes to receive the chief guest and luckily that day, I got this responsibility. At the appointed time, I reached Taj Man Singh Hotel, New Delhi to escort him. I came to know that whenever Tata ji is in Delhi, he stays here. Not in the presidential suite, but in a normal room. When we started leaving with him, he made me sit in his car and here began a beautiful page of my life. He used to travel with a nearly 50-year-old Mercedes and only a driver. I asked Sir, why do you not have any security with you, then he said casually, who can threaten me? I again asked Sir, there should be some supporting staff who can handle your phone, then he said I never felt such a need.

The former IPCA officer wrote- I had parked a Tata Safari of SPG in front of his vehicle to show the way and to pilot it. When he noticed this vehicle, he became very uncomfortable and said that it should be removed. My mind was telling me that any person would raise his collar on seeing the pilot of SPG, but Tata ji did not feel peace until the pilot was removed.

'When I sat in my 50-year-old Mercedes...'
The BJP MLA from Kannauj wrote- The topic of the lecture was 'Developing Excellence in an Organization'. The lecture ended, Tata ji sat in his 50-year-old Mercedes, so I asked him, Sir, can I accompany you to the airport. “If you have nothing better to do, please join”. If you have no other work, then come. I stayed with him for an hour, asked all kinds of questions. There was amazing simplicity in his answers and the ability to understand and solve the issues.

He wrote that I asked him, "What is the formula for developing excellence?" He said, "Divide the work your company or department does into sub-processes and ensure every part, create a process and a strong system of quality control. The final result will be perfect only when the parts that feed it are also perfect."

'No, I will not be disappointed at all...'
Aseem Arun wrote- Tata Motors had prepared a special bullet proof car and escort car for SPG. A lot of money was spent on research, but at that time SPG had also started buying BMW. I asked, "Sir, will you be disappointed by this?" He said, "No, I will not be disappointed at all. If Tata Motors has to stay in the market, then it has to remain in the competition. SPG will buy the best car. I have to make my Safari the best. I will immediately instruct my team to study BMW, include their features in Safari and move forward. The journey of excellence is about continuity." He shared some more interesting things which I will share with you some other time.

He wrote that it was a great fortune to be in the company of such a great person. My fortune increased further when I received his thank you letter a few days later. I have kept it safe and will always keep it, the letter as well as his teachings. I pray to God that Ratan Tata's soul rests in peace. Well, he had enough peace even when he was alive, and I had the valuable opportunity to experience it personally.
