A devotee committed suicide at the famous Ayyappa temple of Sabarimala in Pathinamthitta district of Kerala. The deceased has been identified as Jagan Sampath of Tiruvalluvar district of Tamil Nadu. The suicide of a devotee in the temple premises caused a sensation.

first climbed then jumped

According to information received from the police, Jagan Sampath had climbed the Sabarimala hill on Monday evening. After this, he suddenly jumped from the roof of the ghee Abhishek counter in the temple premises.

The reasons for the suicide were not known

The people present below immediately alerted the temple management. After this, he was given medical aid, but due to excessive bleeding, he died before reaching the hospital. The reason for the suicide is not known yet. Sabarimala police have registered a case.

Free insurance coverage of Rs 5 lakh

Let us tell you that only last month, it was announced that Sabarimala pilgrims visiting Lord Ayyappa temple during Mandalam-Makaravilakku pilgrimage season will be given free insurance coverage of Rs 5 lakh. Kerala government minister VN Vasavan had said that Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB), the apex body managing the Ayyappa temple, has introduced insurance coverage for all pilgrims visiting Sabarimala this year. 

This special responsibility was given to the board of the temple

He also said that arrangements have been made at the hill temple to ensure smooth darshan for all the pilgrims. Vasavan said that the devotees coming here will be provided an insurance coverage of Rs 5 lakh. In case of death of the pilgrims, the Devaswom Board will also make arrangements to bring the body home.
